As the COVID-19 positivity rate remains low, our regional EHS testing sites are winding down and our approach to providing diagnostic (PCR) testing will be fully on-demand for team members and their immediate family (defined as your spouse, your child(ren) age two and up, your parents and parents-in-law, and your grandparents).

Beginning April 11, Northwell team members can pick up LabGold™ PCR testing kits for themselves and their immediate family members and drop them off for processing at their respective site EHS office or a designated Patient Service Center across our footprint.

Please carefully review the steps below if you wish to use this free service.

  1. Team members can stop by their respective site EHS office or a designated Patient Service Center during hours of operation. When you arrive for pick-up, you will be asked to show your Northwell ID badge and you can receive up to three kits for you and your immediate family members.
    • Hospital-based team members can go to the EHS office at their site or a designated Patient Service Center
    • Ambulatory-based and enterprise services team members should go to a designated Patient Service Center
  2. Follow these instructions to complete the lab registration. Note: please ensure you scan the appropriate QR code indicated for team members or immediate family members. For lab regulatory compliance, insurance information is required for all who are tested, including team members. However, there is no out-of-pocket charge for COVID-19 testing.
  3. Once you scan the QR code and begin the process, additional instructions will appear on your phone. You will receive a text informing you that your specimen has been linked to your registration and when your specimen has been received in the lab.
  4. Follow the instructions for self-swabbing, including scanning the barcode on the testing tube, and ensuring the cap is fully closed on the testing tube.
  5. Drop off the LabGold™ tube for testing
    • At our designated Patient Service Centers, you or your immediate family can hand off the tube to a phlebotomist
    • We ask that if you are hospital-based and utilizing your site EHS office for drop-off, that you drop-off the tube for yourself or on behalf of your immediate family on the appropriate rack in the office
  6. When your results are available, you will receive a text with a link to access results. Click the link to verify your identity and view your results. By clicking the link, this will initiate an email with results to be sent to you from LabGoldResults@northwell.edu. Results will be provided within one to three days from receipt in the lab.
Results on the Employee Health Portal

Team members can also access results on the Employee Health Portal by logging in and going to the Message Center. If you have previously been tested at a site EHS office, regional EHS testing site, or via LabGold using the team member QR code for registration, you will see results dating back to September 2021. Note, to ensure your results are accessible via the Employee Health Portal, you will need to scan the appropriate team member QR code during the LabGold registration process as noted in the instructions. Results from GoHealth and Northwell Health care locations will not be accessible in the Employee Health Portal.

Results on the Northwell Health app

You or your immediate family member can also access results through the Northwell Health app. Download the app from the Google Play or App Store. Once you create and verify your account, you'll find your results in the COVID-19 Center on the app's homepage. Note: results are not available in FollowMyHealth at this time.

After you receive your result

If your result is positive, please call the EHS Call Center at (516) 734-7166 and notify them of your result so they can provide you with guidance on next steps.

If you test at a non-Northwell testing site or any Northwell testing site other than the option above

If your result is positive, please also call the EHS Call Center at (516) 734-7166 and notify them of your result so they can provide you with guidance on next steps. This is a requirement from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and so we ask this of all team members, including those who work remotely.
